Marie Callender's Restaurants
Marie Callender began her pie company in the early 1940's with a reputation for producing uncommonly delicious pies. Marie herself began selling her pies directly to Southern California restaurants and business boomed. In 1948, the family opened their first wholesale bakery to accommodate the demand. Sales continued to increase, leading Marie's son, Don Callender, to open the first full-service Marie Callender's restaurant in 1964 in Orange, California. Since then, the restaurant group has become a Western institution, with the company now operating 150 restaurants in 10 Western states and Mexico. Additionally, in 2006, the company opened Callender's Grill, an updated casual dining concept located in Culver City.
